A very conflicting blog post topic, we must admit. But don't you agree that fashion trends carry forward through seasons and even the next year in some cases. It's not always necessary though that they carry forward in the same avatar - for eg. the peplum silhouette was quite the rage this year, but next year it is expected to take the form of subtle detailing.
So as 2012 comes to close and we all are looking back at the best and the worst, we bring you 5 trends that initialed in 2012 but are very well expected to continue through 2013, at least till the spring season ends the next year.
2012 saw the ballerinas giving way to a more androgynous avatar of staple footwear - the smoking slippers. Pictured Belowhung Alexa Chung and miranda Kerr from 2012.
At the very onset of 2013, Prada has launched a mini collection of embellished smoking slippers for Christmas, clear hint that this style is here to stay.
The Color Mint Green
Sorbet and pastel colors saw their rise this year, both on the runway with 3.1 Philp Lim etc. and on the streets. But designers haven't let go of the mint green hue, in a much less saturated form though. Pictured here street style from 2012, and below Mulberry SS 13 collection and Roberto Cavalli Backstage SS 2013.
So we all have had our share of bright hued pants, so much so that they have almost lost the shock value and become neutral. But printed tailored pants are here to stay even in 2013. Pictured here street style from 2012 and below AltuZarra 2013 collection.
P.S. - Gucci even advocates it for men in Spring Summer 2013.
Our Romantic and sensual instincts continue to rule the coming spring too. What is more woman-like than this? Pictured here Anja Rubik in 2012 and Temperly London Spring Summer 2013 Collection.
Olympics are over but are fascination for incorporating sportswear in our chic ensemles is definitely not. Check out below Alexander Wang SS 12 collection, Street Style 2012 and Chalayan SS 2013 collection.
