The Rise of Graphic Minimalism

Marc Jacobs, through his career has been a part of many defining moments of fashion. As the Paris Fashion week came to an end yesterday, Marc presented a six minutes show Louis Vuitton which got the whole fashion world talking.

Louis Vuitton ( By March Jacobs) Spring Summer 2013 Collection, Paris

From the last season's opulence and luxury he moved towards a graphic minimalism of grids. The set had four escalators meeting a grid runway in white and sunshine yellow - matching the very first garments sent out.

Even the floral motifs were embroidered with little squares. Midi Skirts as well as pants in cut-out white looked stunning.

Jacob's vision though was seen long before this show, when he presented his very own line in New York a month ago. The object of his affection were monochromatic stripes and an obvious visual connection to the former it girl in NYC Edie Sidgwick.

The sharpest Garment of them all was the sequined striped Jumpsuit towards the end of the show.

  5. This is really interesting. I love the geometric eyelet skirts, it's a nice departure from your regular floral eyelet. Will keep an eye out for these pieces once they hit the market.

  6. I think Marc can do no wrong...he is constantly changing what we think we'll expect from Louis Vuitton...which makes him a true creative visionary.
I loved both collections...and I have no doubt that he is setting a major trend for the rest of us to embrace.
